QBO: Create & Export Profit & Loss Totals (By Month)

Goal​

Export a Profit & Loss Totals by Month report that matches the same date range as your Balance Sheet.

Step 1: Open the Profit & Loss report​

  1. Go to Reports, then Standard reports
  2. Open the standard Profit and Loss report

Step 2: Customize the report​

Set the following:

  • From: same as Balance Sheet
  • To: same as Balance Sheet
  • Accounting method: Accrual
  • Display columns by: Months

Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss must use identical From/To dates.

Step 3: Export to Excel​

Export to Excel and save with a clear name, for example:

PL 2024-01 to 2026-01 - Totals.xlsx

Step 4: Save the report (one-time setup)​

  1. Click Save As
  2. Name it something like:

PL by Month from 2024-01

  1. Add it to your BizVisualizer group
